Overseas Drivers in Victoria are Required to Change to Victorian Drivers Licence by end of April 2021
Please Note 1: The deadline has been changed from April 2020 to April 2021 due to coronavirus impact.
Please Note 2: Drive test packs are currently unable to be purchased until VicRoads reopens.

Conditions for Overseas Licence Conversion Packs
- One 60min lesson must be completed on the day of and just before the driving test unless otherwise agreed upon with/by the instructor.
- Weekends permitted.
- Overseas Licence Conversion packs exclude all VicRoads fees.
- Booking dates and times may vary to online booking form depending on instructors availability, confirmation of booking will be given once the instructor in your area has made contact with you.

More Information:
On 29 October 2019, the Victorian Government mandated that all Overseas Drivers living and/or working in Victoria must change their Overseas Drivers Licence to a Victorian Drivers Licence within 6 months or they will be unlicenced and unable to drive.
When this new rule was introduced back then it set in motion thousands of existing Overseas Drivers in Victoria booking driving schools and appointments with VicRoads to make sure they change over before 6 months, which is the end of April 2021.
Because of this, some VicRoads offices are already fully booked out for months at the time of writing and staff are referring Overseas Drivers to offices further away so they may be able to book a time to change their licence and keep driving in Victoria.
Depending on which country in which you hold a licence and/or your age, you may be required to undergo the VicRoads tests which consist of:
• the road law knowledge test
• the hazard perception test
• the drive test

If you are required to take the VicRoads tests
If VicRoads requires you to take the tests, which includes the drive test, then you should consider having driving lessons with a professional driving instructor from Master Driving School. Our instructors have accompanied thousands of driving students on their drive tests and know what the VicRoads assessors look for and where the tests are undertaken on public roads so they can help familiarise you with the area.

This is a new change to the road law with a 6 month time limit imposed and affects a large number of people. VicRoads has a limited amount of testing stations around Melbourne and already receives bookings from regular learner drivers wishing to take their tests. This means there can be a long waiting period and if you leave it too long you may end up being unlicenced for a period of time. This could impact your study, work and social life.
